FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions
- Who runs this park?
- We have a Board of Directors that meet periodically to discuss ways to raise funds, and allocate those funds for improvements to the park.
- Who is on the Board?
- Posted in the Board Members Section
- Why are there bare spots of grass?
- We have been working with the City of Seal Beach to fix the sprinkler pattern and frequency of watering to help solve this. Takes time.
- Who supplies the poop bags?
- We purchase them with funds raised by donations. Currently we spend almost $3000.00 per year on poop bags.
- Why don’t some people clean up after their own dogs?
- Sometimes they aren’t paying attention.
- Do you have days when volunteers get together to fill the gopher holes and reseed?
- Yes, we post these dates well in advance and do this about three times a year. We spend about $1000.00 on dirt, sand, and grass seed per event.
- What can I do to help maintain the park?
- We welcome all contributions and volunteer labor for our events.
- You have an annual event called Wags to Riches, what is that?
- It is our annual main fundraiser. We have low cost vaccination clinics, vendors, a bake sale, and have t-shirts, caps and sweatshirts for sale to help offset the costs of maintaining the park.
- What would it take to really get this park in top shape?
- To re-slope the park, fix the sprinkler system for total coverage, and plant a resilient grass that is almost impervious to dog urine and poop about $50,000.00. This city will not pay for this; it would have to be funded by private donations.
- How can I donate to the park?
- Click on the “Donations” link. All donations are tax deductible as we are incorporated as a 501c non-profit organization.
